- No one can follow you as a leader if you don’t explain clearly what you want done, even if it makes them angry, frustrated or sad. Tell the truth as soon and as clearly as possible.
- Practice asking great questions. Bad question: Are you ok on this project? Good question: What is one thing on this project that is stopping your momentum?
- Speed Kills (see EQ above): speed is I GO, not YOU GO. It leads to multitasking madness and rework. Take time with work, people and the world. Take time for yourself to get back to center.
- Close the Loop: follow-up on assignments and outcomes and make a rule for others to double-back. Many people ASS-U-ME the rule is this: you’ll know that they did it without telling you. Insanity. Chasing after people you are leading is bad practice.
