It’s time to write the November newsletter. This is the wonderful time of year when we have a holiday a month...Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. It’s also our time to take stock before this year passes. But this year will not be the same, just like everything else. Covid has taken away our holidays, how we work, how we shop, how we live and then crushes us with illness and the loss of lives of so many. It’s hard to imagine that we will ever able to leave the house without a mask or hug our family and friends, or not staying 12 feet from everyone. Someday, we won’t feel terribly guilty and scared. From our politics to our families, to our homes, everything has turned ugly and horrible.
For this Thanksgiving, I have created a new word: SKNAHT (the H is silent) which represents the opposite of THANKS. This is the word I will use to talk about how put upon I have been in 2020. Everything will be SKNAHT to me until we’re back to real normal. I know you have had SKNAHT days during this year, too. I’ll bet you and I can talk about the dreadful affairs we’ve been through for many SKNAHT minutes. It’s difficult to talk to anyone without bringing up our terrors. Everyone has a pile of SKNAHT stories to share. Every conversation leads to SKNAHT.
