Your teams find it difficult to carve out time to learn and you as leader prioritize learning for them. You also find it difficult to have the energy to learn with so many things on your to-do list. I found it energizing to learn. This month I prioritized the time to take an IDEO Design Thinking Certificate program. I met new people, acquired new skills and although it was tough to get the work done, it opened my eyes to new techniques I can use in my practice.
You likely have trouble with reading, with all the things you do before, during and after work. I keep a couple of books next to the bed and read a chapter at a time each night. Go to your next meeting with colored markers or pencils and leave your computer at your desk. Take colorful notes and sketches during the meeting. Everyone else will be jealous.
