Another data point was the attendance at my two sessions: Realistic Project Management and Grow Your Energy: EQ. Can you guess which had the most attendance? Realistic Project Management had a reasonable group of smart people. They know that we must have organizational structure to get things done. Project Management is a bit out of favor now, so I was pleasantly surprised that there were others like me who saw the crucial need for a simple plan.
The Grow Your Energy: EQ workshop was swamped. Maybe the draw was ‘energy’. The way we work now, multitasking with multiple stakeholders, is exhausting. We’ve all hit the wall, our brains collapsing with the churn. I asked people what time of day their brain gives out – unanimous 3 – 3:30 PM. Not surprising, the experiences we think are unique to us are the same others have. We push believing that we SHOULD be stronger, smarter, faster, calmer… etc. We blame ourselves for not being to handle the impossible.
